Just before Christmas, we published a report that showed Cupar had been listed as Scotland’s Number 1 “most in-demand rural location for property buyers” – and second in the the whole of the UK. The listing – from Right Move (the UK’s number one property portal) – mirrors Joyce Lawrie’s experience in the town’s growing popularity.

Joyce says: “The last 20 months has seen a shift in people’s perceptions and expectations. Rural living – often a dream for many – has become a reality for those willing to invest in a lifestyle that takes them away from big towns and cities.” Joyce adds: “Cupar and our surrounding district offer a great location – especially for young families. The Right Move report made much of Cupar’s affordable houses and flats in a ‘vibrant town centre’, and it is the town’s vibrancy that really adds to the appeal.”

The same property portal has just published the leading agencies across Cupar’s catchment: Lawrie Estate Agents have come out on top – not only for ‘new instructions’ but also for ‘sales agreed’ …

But it is one other metric that makes Joyce more proud than any other. She explains: “The key to a successful property market is selling – whether you are a buyer or selling your home, you do not want a long, drawn-out process.” Joyce adds: “We acknowledge we are not the biggest, but the proof is in the pudding and the figures show us to be the best when it comes to the average days a property is on the market. With us, it is just over 11 weeks. Our nearest competitor is close to double that timescale. In a market that is fast moving, we are consistent for our clients – on both sides of the coin.”

Joyce is the first to recognise her team and their dedication. It is their collective hard work that won recognition on two fronts at the end of 2021 …
