In Cupar this weekend (15 – 17th November)

Cupar is always busy with local events but this weekend seems particularly packed with a number of events happening and which give you a brilliant opportunity to come to Cupar for the day, to shop in our local shops – whether you are just needing to buy your usual household shop or want to start your Christmas shopping.   And at the same time you will be supporting local community groups and businesses. We thought it might just be simpler to list each event out with a link for all the details!

Fair minded …

CuparNow is ‘by business, for business‘ – but we know and appreciate none of the town’s businesses would thrive were it not for the incredible community spirit that abounds in the town. There’s a multitude of groups and organisations that collaborate and work hard to enhance the Cupar experience. We caught up with Margaret Lawrence, Chair of Cupar Fair Trade, to discover more about their work …

A more caring Cupar …

Part of CuparNow’s remit is to demonstrate just how improved digital connectivity can best support multiple audiences in our town. Over a number of months, we have championed the work of Ruth McCabe and the the work she is delivering for Dementia Friendly Fife. The project – overseen by Fife Health & Social Care Partnership – exists to train companies and organisations to be ‘dementia friendly’ so they can demonstrate to those affected by dementia that they will receive a warm and understanding welcome.

Since we started featuring the programme, we are delighted more businesses and organisations in Cupar have taken part and won their certificates. We hope this wee update helps to spread the word more …

Sowing the seeds of success ….

Anyone visiting Cupar this summer cannot have missed the stunning floral displays that bedeck Cupar’s public gardens, streets, windowsills, railings and more. Much of this work is down to the small army of volunteers who make up Cupar in Bloom. We caught up with them … to dig a little deeper …

This August, around 20 of the world’s leading elite women’s cycling teams will compete in the inaugural Women’s Tour of Scotland – and they will be battling in Cupar on Friday 9th August.

CuparNow is top of the tree …

WOW! We are absolutely thrilled that the engaged audience we are growing – that’s you – is now the fastest growing of any improvement district across Scotland. CuparNow only launched at the end of 2018 and has already grown an engaged social media audience of more than 3,000. The speed of our audience development puts Cupar at the top of the table against every other improvement district – including those in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Bringing history to life …

Students at Bell Baxter High School – 36 of them – are about to take to the stage at The Byre Theatre in St Andrews to perform a new musical – The Darien Gap – created by the school. We caught up with drama teacher, Richard Robb, who has co-written the production with fellow teacher, Craig McNicol, to discover their three year plan that comes to life this June …

Cupar to become UK’s first digitally inclusive destination

A new project, the first of its kind in the UK, will see Cupar businesses enhance their reputation by improving the provision of access information. The project will put the town on the map as an accessible destination and is the latest development from OOVIRT, a Dundee-based company that produces virtual experiences with a specific aim to help make venues more inclusive to all.

Cupar is Open

One in five of us has some kind of disability. As Scotland’s (and the world’s) first Digital Improvement District, we’re delighted to have been chosen to pilot a new platform that will help to highlight Cupar’s accessibility, to help demonstrate that we’re open for all … to deliver a collaborative project that will showcase Cupar as a world-leading inclusive destination. Here’s how …
