Graduate Apprentice Needed

Cunningham Grant is a progressive accountancy practice based in Fife with a growing client base – right across the country – and they are looking for a Graduate Apprentice to join their firm.

Their clients range from individuals and family businesses to professional partnerships and commercial companies.

Director, Barry Grant, explains the apprenticeship opportunity saying: “We offer a high level of client and partner contact to create an interesting and varied training experience. You will be exposed to all aspects and areas of working in an accounting practice, and provided with various opportunities to develop your technical skills in accounting and taxation, as well as your soft skills of communication and team work.

About the Training

Graduate Apprentice RGU-ICAS 2026 is an accredited work-based learning programme combining an honours degree from RGU with the globally recognised ICAS Chartered Accountant qualification over a 5-year period (as opposed to a traditional 7-year period). This is mainly completed through supported online learning with some in-person university days.

Academic study is combined with the practical experience you obtain from working in the office to give a better understanding of how the knowledge you obtain is applied in practice. Support is provided within the office primarily via your mentor.

This role involves working a full-time job (Monday to Thursday 8am to 5.30pm), while also studying in a full-time course for their honours degree and professional qualifications.

Our firm has successfully supported a Graduate Apprentice who is now a qualified CA, and we also have a 2nd year RGU student and would be happy for interested candidates to have a discussion with them about what the course entails as well as ask any questions they may have.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join our team who meets the entry requirements and is able to communicate well

Entry Requirements

  • SQA Highers – 4 at B grade or above.
  • This route is open to school or college leavers, or graduates with non-accounting degrees.
  • Applications from students with non-standard qualifications (including Foundation Apprenticeships, Modern Apprenticeships, SVQs/NVQs and access programmes) will be considered on an individual basis.

Benefits

  • Gain experience working with a variety of different business types.
  • Close communication with an existing Graduate Apprentice for support.
  • Costs of the course are covered (no student loans necessary!)
  • Obtain your professional qualifications 2 years sooner!
  • Learn and work simultaneously – obtain your degree while earning a full-time salary.

Closing date for applications is 31st May 2026.

The role will start late August 2026 and then the course will commence the beginning of September 2026.
