Watts gets the green light!
The development of the former Watts building and site has been given the green light by Fife Council planners.
The developer – Fife-based Stone Acre – is now looking at ‘next steps’ and, if all goes to plan, the demolition of the buildings to the rear of Watts should start early in the new year.
Andrew Craig of Stone Acre says: “We are delighted to have been granted permission. This is an historic site that means a great deal to those in the town and across our area with many memories attached. Our ambition is to proceed as swiftly as we can with the site’s clearance – and then continue with the required works to deliver all that we propose.”
Andrew adds: “We’d like to thank all of those who showed us their support. There is clearly an appetite for what promises to be an exciting development in the heart of the town and we look forward to working with the town’s residents, businesses and stakeholders in bringing our plans to fruition.”

Dynamic redevelopment …
Tony Miklinski, Chair of Cupar Development Trust, welcomes the news saying: “Bringing such a dynamic redevelopment scheme to a site of historical importance is a real challenge. The regeneration of a listed building, the creation of new retail units, parking provision and the proposed drive-thru will revitalise a corner of the town that has been in decline and neglected for many years. We have supported Andrew’s plans and wish Stone Acre every success.”
