For Lovers of Active Travel

Fife Council is developing an Active Travel Strategy and Action Plan (ATSAP), for the whole of Fife. The ATSAP will set out a long-term vision for a high-quality network of routes that enable people to walk, wheel and cycle more easily and safely within and between Fife’s communities. A consultation has been launched and your feedback is requested …

Jacobs of Edinburgh has been commissioned to provide consultancy support to develop the ATSAP.

Their team has developed a draft of the network plan and an outline of accompanying supporting measures.

The network will align closely with national standards and plans to maximise the opportunity for downstream funding; they recognise that it also needs to be developed from knowledge of the local issues and opportunities.

“The network will identify strategic and local routes across Fife; providing solutions that are appropriate to the different geographies and different types of people across the area. The network will be complemented by practical support and initiatives to help and encourage people to get more active.”

They are now asking for feedback on the draft plan from key stakeholders and members of the public: to that end, a series of public events across Fife are being staged this month. The Cupar event is being held on Tuesday 13th February (3pm – 7pm) at Cupar Railway Station.

There is also the opportunity to view the proposals and provide comments online at Active Travel Strategy and Action Plan for Fife. You can click on the image below to complete the survey.

In addition, they are running two sessions to which local organisations are being invited. These briefing events are invitation only and the number of attendees will be limited. If you are involved in a local organisation and require more information – or you are a local resident and have any questions about the consultation, please contact active.travel@fife.gov.uk or phone 0131 659 1547 (between 09.00 and 17.00 Monday to Friday, leaving a message with your name, contact number and nature of your enquiry).
