Cupar’s Food & Drink Trail

Love food & drink? Like discovering local eateries, producers, food & drink specialists … and pubs? Take time to explore the Food & Drink Trails that showcase our area’s offering …

The Trails are tasters, giving residents and visitors a snapshot: cafes, coffee shops and tea rooms, bistros & restaurants, takeaway treats, pubs as well as all the food & drink shopping that’s available – bakeries and butchers, deli produce, grocers, cheese and fishmongers, off licence and convenience stores and supermarkets. It also covers community projects that are food focused – from those supporting the most vulnerable to waste-saving initiatives.

Cupar’s Celebration …

As part of Cupar’s Celebration & Commemoration Weekend 2022, we recorded a podcast at Luvians that includes a chat with Ian Hamilton, presenter of the BBC’s ‘My Kind Of Town’. In that, Ian delights in sampling Luvian’s ice cream as we discuss Cupar’s provenance. You can listen to the podcast via this link.

Seven Trails …

The seven trails are centred on Cupar as the market town of north east Fife – starting and finishing in the town. And there’s one trail dedicated to the town itself. Each business is mapped – and the site enables users to filter their searches … by producer or retailer, by speciality as well as by venue type.

The ingredients …

The project is delivered by CuparNow in support of Cupar’s Development Trust (CDT) who sought and won funding from the Regional Food Fund. That funding was matched by Destination66, the company that delivers CuparNow – and has enabled the project to go further than originally planned. Bill Pagan, Chair of CDT Cupar, says: “Cupar is steeped in medieval history but the town is much more. It is a 21st century market town with an abundance of fabulous food & drink businesses, not only in the town but right across our entire catchment … Cupar’s equivalent ‘terroir’ that makes our offering unique.

Get involved …

Bill adds: “We would urge all food & drink businesses to engage with the project. The more who become actively involved, the greater the benefits can be delivered for all.” To that end, the site has a feedback questionnaire for any business featured – or any business that thinks they should be!
