Great Scott! 115 years and counting …

Scotts in Cupar have a great story to share … celebrating their 115th birthday this month. As a thank you to their customers old and new, they are offering a 15% discount off “EVERYTHING“. We caught up with Claudine Scott, the great granddaughter of the shop’s founder, to discover more …

Claudine has been running Scotts for the last eight years. She says: “The shop was established on 22nd March 1907 by James A. Scott, my great grandfather.” She adds: “It has seen many changes over 115 years of trading.

Originally a traditional drapers, Claudine explains that her great grandfather’s business would have been creating the latest fashions of the day: “The business’ tailor and milliner were stationed at 90 Bonnygate – and that was the case until it was sold in 1956 to Thomas Young, the Watchmaker & Jeweller. That is another shop with a great history in the town and we wish Eric all the very best in his upcoming retirement.

She says: “I don’t think James A. Scott could have imagined that the shop he launched in the Edwardian era would be trading into the next millennia … or could have foreseen the enormous changes that have happened not only in our line of work, but across Cupar and our area.

Today, Scotts remains part of the fabric of the town. It focuses solely on ladies wear and carries a great selection of casual wear, dresses, accessories, nightwear and lingerie.

Claudine says: “We are so proud to still be part of Cupar’s community and would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers – past and present – for their support over the years. It is thanks to you all that we are still here in business and hope to be for many, many more years to come!” She concludes: “This is such a milestone. We hope all can join us in celebrating and take advantage of our birthday discount offer.
