It is very much THAT time of year when thoughts turn to flowers … not just the wee shoots and buds that are starting to appear in gardens and hedgerows, but the kind that need to be sent to loved ones near and far to help celebrate Valentine’s Day. We caught up with Elizabeth Brodie – owner of Brodie’s Blooms and Gifts – who has opted in to be a part of CuparNow …

Elizabeth is based in Newtown in Cupar and has been a florist for more than twenty years – but fashion was her first passion. “I was studying fashion at Heriot Watt and started working part time as a florist. I gained my BA Honours Degree in my chosen subject but realised my heart was more into designing floral arrangements than it was in designing clothes!”

Before setting up her own business, Elizabeth worked as a florist at Ring a Roses in Glenrothes. “I worked there for almost 15 years but knew I needed a new challenge.” She set up Brodie’s Blooms and Gifts and is very proud of what she has created, saying: “Brodie’s Blooms and Gifts is a modern, creative florist and gift workshop. Love and care goes into everything I design.”

For Elizabeth, since the day she started her own business in June 2014, it has always been about the service – listening to customers to ensure what is being created will “make all your flower dreams come true“. She explains: “Our aim is to provide a great service to local customers by discussing individual requirements.”

Elizabeth sources her high quality flowers – buying direct from leading Dutch growers, saying: “This ensures the customer is always getting top quality fresh flowers.”

Mindful of ever-changing requirements, she’s also invested in digital development – creating an online shop through which customers can browse and place orders with a safe and secure payment process.

She gets enormous satisfaction from the feedback she receives from customers, and some of that feedback has resulted in Brodie’s Blooms and Gifts being recognised in awards – winning the best florist in Fife (2019) and being a finalist in the last two years in Scotland’s Business Awards.
