CuparNow Wi-Fi – Live!

If you’re in town by the market cross, feel free to use the new CuparNow free Wi-Fi service that’s available to all.

The Wi-Fi – part of CuparNow’s Digital Improvement District’s demonstration project – is seen as integral to provide a service that’s free to use for all residents and visitors to the town …

Simon Baldwin of Destination66 Ltd, the company delivering CuparNow, explains: “Free Wi-Fi is a key element of the project’s delivery – supporting multiple audiences and enabling us to build engagement with those using the service.” He adds: “The first access point is live and provides free public-realm access to those in and around the market cross area. It is not designed to permeate into business or residential premises – so this does not replace anyone existing provision. We are simply providing a free service to enable people to search for content when in the town – and for them to be able to share their experiences via free login to digital and social platforms if they so choose.

The service is GDPR compliant. Anyone signing up to use it has two options for registration: either a registration form or through one of the given social media options.

Additional access points will be added shortly – to broaden the coverage in the town centre. If CuparNow’s demonstration phase converts into full delivery after the planned ballot of non domestic rate paying businesses and organisations in November 2019, then the Wi-Fi provision will broaden still further across the town.
