Gathering of Societies – this Sunday!
This Sunday, the Rotary Club of Cupar and Cupar & District Community Council are staging a unique Gathering of Societies in the Haugh Park (1-4pm).
More than 25 clubs, groups, associations and community organisations are taking part. They’ll be on hand to showcase their work and to answer your questions.
Gina Logan, Chair of Cupar & District Community Council says: “This is a unique event. We have been delighted to work as part of the community collaboration that helped to deliver Cupar’s Celebration Weekend 2021. This Sunday, the collaboration continues when more than 24 community groups, clubs, associations and organisations gather in Cupar’s Haugh Park to showcase their work.”
Bill McSeveney, President of the Rotary Club of Cupar, adds: “Throughout 2021, the Club has been running a listening campaign – inviting community groups to tell their story to members. This event is a continuation of that – opening up to invite all to meet our town’s community groups, enabling residents and visitors of our district to come and see what the town has to offer.”
Gina adds: “There really is something for everyone. We have groups catering for activities that appeal to all ages. There are arts and sports represented, church groups, music and dance, the town’s award-winning bloom team as well as history and heritage groups. You will also be able to meet those involved in sustainability and preservation projects, twinning and model railways.”
The societies and groups attending include Cupar Arts, Cupar Curling Club, Cupar in Bloom, Cupar YMCA YWCA, Cupar Youthcafe, Cupar Beginners Brass, Fife Folk Museum, Cupar and Howe of Fife Twinning Association, 10th fife 1st Cupar Monday Scouts ( blowtorch troop ), Ferryfield Playgroup Cupar, Cupar Museum and Heritage Centre – Fife, Cupalele – Cupar U3A Ukes, Sustainable Cupar, Cupar Amateur Musical Society (CAMS), East Fife Sports Council, Cupar Development Trust, Central and North Fife Preservation Society, Yvonne Gray Dance Studios, Cupar & District Model Railway Club, Cupar Old Parish Church, Falkland & District Historical Society and Cupar Baptist Church.
