Escape with Eden …

On our travels around the town, we’re always pleased to meet the people behind the company names and fascias. The town has an increasing number of independent businesses who are nailing their colours to Cupar’s mast and we’re delighted CuparNow is enabling us to showcase them as never before. In our latest profile, we met with Gail Brunton and her business partner, Andrew Fotheringham, the duo behind Eden Escapes

Gail was the Manager at Co Operative Travel in Cupar for several years. When the Co Operative and Thomas Cook merged in 2013, she was made redundant. What to do next? Gail explains: “I had been in the travel industry for 30 years. I’d worked alongside Andrew and we decided to open our own agency.

Eden Escapes opened just three doors down the road from their old employer and, five months later, The Co Operative Travel closed its doors.

Both Gail and Andrew have a wealth of travel knowledge with over 60 years of experience between them – and they have a unique understanding of Cupar’s customers. Gails says: “Being an independent travel agency allows us to offer totally impartial advice and the widest range of airlines, tour operators, cruise lines and extras – all with very competitive pricing.

They have won a reputation for specialising in cruises and tailor-made travel – worldwide. Andrew adds: “We will customise your holiday to suit your requirements – wherever your destination might be.” And for their customers’ peace of mind, everything is fully ATOL & ABTA protected.

One Stop Travel Agency

Gail and Andrew are keen to point out that they can take care of every aspect. It is not just the travel with or without your accommodation – but your travel insurance, car hire, parking, time out in airport lounges, tickets for theme parks … you name it, they can help.

They know that so much is now online – but so is their business. Gails explains: “We don’t shy away from the internet – we embrace it. Our website is kept bang up to date with all manner of special offers – whether you are looking for a weekend break in London or a trip of a lifetime to Las Vegas.” And the business also relies on their social media too. Andrew says: “We’ve grown a great audience of approaching 750 loyal customers on our Facebook page where we are able to share the latest news and deals. It also allows customers to message us with questions – and that’s a useful plus as so many folk are on Facebook every day. We’re just a click away!

The opportunity to be independent is what makes them both tick – that and being able to find and build the holidays of their customers’ dreams. Gails signs off saying: “We both love having on own travel agency with the flexibility of the business.

Finally, a question we ask all who feature in our profiles – what they’d recommend to someone visiting Cupar for the first time – or for the first time in a long time. Gails says: “Have a walk round Cupar. It has so much to offer … but you must wander up and down the pends as its not all on the main street.” She adds: “Cupar is such a friendly and welcoming community. I’ve been here for over 30 years – moving from the West coast. My husband, Mark, is from St Andrews and my business partner, Andrew, moved here from Perth – into Springfield – just a couple of years ago. We all love the town.”
