This year (2025) saw the publication of a major contribution to the understanding of Cupar’s most famous son, Sir David Lindsay, the new ‘Oxford Handbook of Scottish Theatre‘ edited by Professor Greg Walker and Emeritus Professor Randall Stevenson.
It tells the story of drama and performing in Scotland – from the earliest folk plays and royal ceremonies of medieval times right up to today’s challenges faced by the professional theatre.
Thursday 23rd October
Lead editor, Prof Greg Walker, is presenting a copy to the Royal Burgh of Cupar, through its Library at an event on Thursday 23rd. He and co-editor, Prof Randall Stevenson, will both speak of their new book.
In support, Three Estates Cupar is presenting to OnFife a print of John Bett’s special script of Scotland’s oldest surviving play, Lindsay’s Ane Satyre of the Thrie Estaitis
At the same event, local novelist, Vicki Masters, is presenting to Cupar Library copies of her five historical novels, set in the period of Sir David Lindsay.
The event will run from 3pm to 4:30pm on the 23rd in the Duncan Room of Cupar Library on Crossgate – entrance via the door on Kirk Wynd.
