Open to all …

This September will see properties, businesses and attractions across our area taking part in Doors Open Days – Scotland’s largest free festival celebrating “places and stories, new and old“. The last three years have seen celebratory weekends in September, showcasing so much that Cupar has to offer. This year, it is envisaged that Cupar’s Weekend will make the most of the national ‘Doors Open Days’ with businesses, associations, clubs, groups, community organisations, societies and more opening their doors to residents and visitors alike …

You’re welcome …

Through 2021 until last year, many community groups came together to create a celebratory weekend with numerous events and activities across the third weekend in September. That coincided with the final weekend of the Fun Fair as well as the Cupar Market being in town.

The initial driver for the weekend was to bring people together – and out of their homes – after the end of lockdowns. Inevitably, as the months and years have ticked by, many of those involved are now back into calendars of their own routines. The need for such a collective gathering has dwindled. However, many still wish to showcase what’s on offer and the Open Doors Days Festival provides a great opportunity.

Third weekend …

The third weekend in September – Friday 20th, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd – is very much ‘in the diary’ as Cupar’s weekend. The Fun Fair is due to return and the Market will be on Crossgate. We know of a number of community groups who will be planning ‘open day’ activities and that information is being collated over the coming weeks and months for sharing in the countdown.

Cupar’s Open Doors Weekend continues to build on what has gone before – the weekend evolves!

On Market Day, Three Estates Cupar – the local charity that champions Cupar’s medieval history – will be alongside the Market at The Cross and has offered to act as the ’town crier’ to announce and promote any other organisations who have events and activities running that day.
