Food & Drink Trail
Around 10% of the businesses in Cupar are in the food & drink sector: it is a significant part of the town’s offering – and attracts considerable numbers to the town, whether for shopping or eating out. We have been working on a project that will help to showcase the town’s Food & Drink businesses and will also launch a series of trails – each of which will begin and end in Cupar.
Earlier in 2021, we were asked by Cupar’s Development Trust (CDT) to help them with an application to the Regional Food Fund. They had recently changed their remit to become ‘Cupar & District’ – focusing on the town’s role at the centre of a growing catchment. The funding application made the case for Cupar to be recognised as a 21st Century Market Town serving a large area of North East Fife.
We are delighted that CDT were successful in their application and, as a result, we have been working to create the digital platform that will support the trails – and more.
We are launching in Cupar with information that showcases the town’s food & drink businesses – to coincide with Cupar’s Celebration Weekend 2021 (17-19 September). It will invite people to the town to discover and enjoy all that it has to offer.
Beyond the launch weekend, we will create and share information from across the region, focused on showcasing provenance … the very best that our area has to offer. And later this year, the project will run a series of workshops that will focus on shared learning, communication and wellbeing – all with a food and drink emphasis.
Every business is invited to be a part of the project – not just those in the food & drink sector. The more people engage and visit the town, the more benefit will be driven to all. As some examples …
- Where are your favourite local eateries?
- Where is you ‘local’ … and why?
- Where do you grab your lunch when on the go in town?
- What is your favourite local produce?
- What’s your ‘go to’ recipe using Scottish produce?
We will be encouraging all to share and engage – to amplify the town’s messaging to a bigger audience beyond Cupar … beyond Fife.
Please keep an eye on our Blog and social media channels where we will be updating on this project and more.
