A Flood of Enquiries …

Cupar does not have a huge range of accommodation for visitors or for those working locally on short term projects – but one company, Stay in Cupar, is working hard to meet the ever-changing needs of those looking at holiday and short term lets in the town. We caught up with Liana Steven to discover more on what she has been delivering in 2024 …

The flooding that hit Cupar earlier this year prompted an immediate need for temporary housing solutions. Liana says: “Stay in Cupar responded swiftly to the call, providing a sanctuary for many who were impacted“. She adds: “The period has been trying for those affected, with the restoration of homes ongoing and some not expected to return until the latter part of the year.” And she explains that she knows only too well what people faced, saying: “Our sister business, Rent in Cupar, had a newly refurbished property flooded too, so we understand the stress and impact flooding has.”

Bridging the gap …

During what should be a typically quieter season reserved for refurbishment, Stay In Cupar found themselves “bustling with activity” and working hard to ensure those displaced by the floods had a comfortable place to stay.

Liana was happy to help those in need but is equally pleased that the emergency has passed and the properties are once again available and taking bookings.

Navigating next steps …

Many will be aware of changes to Short-Term Letting regulations – and the challenges they are creating across the country. Liana says: “We are navigating them with optimism and anticipate a favourable outcome from Fife Council regarding our applications submitted last August.”
