Time to flourish …
Live in or near Cupar and looking for support with your mental health … or know someone who would benefit from such support? A new Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH) course starts in the County Buildings on St Catherine Street from Monday 23rd Sept and will run for 12 weeks.
Known as To Flourish in Life – previously called ‘Tools for Living’ – it is a free course developed by SAMH and is made up of units delivered over three months. The course has been designed to help people develop their knowledge, confidence and skills in a variety of areas.
It supports people to manage their mental health and well-being. T.F.L is delivered in a group setting. The groups are small and held in a welcoming, informal space. There is a different topic each week and you can contribute to discussions as much or as little as suits you.
The course allows people to:
- Hear about successful approaches
- Learn from each other
- Be introduced to strategies to make them aware of positive changes
Feedback from previous learners has informed the programme going forward and will now include more focus on goal setting and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Who is SAMH?
Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. Today, they operate in communities across Scotland, providing mental health social care support. Going Forth is a well established SAMH service based in Dunfermline. It delivers workshops from Going Forth and in communities across Fife.
What can you expect?
Before the group starts, you will have a chat with one of the team on a 1-1 basis to look at the ways the workshops can benefit you.
- The opportunity to explore mental heath and well-being support
- Encouragement to develop coping strategies to help you manage your mental health
- At the end of T.F.L they can look at your next steps, if you would find this helpful
Self referrals and professional referrals are welcome. Please note that spaces are limited.
