Remembrance Services 2023
The Cupar Branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland is holding two remembrance services – the first on Saturday 11th at St John’s Church on Bonnygate, and the second on Sunday 12th November at the town’s War Memorial.
Every year, the nation unites to make sure that no-one is forgotten, and to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.
Bill Pagan of the local branch says: “On Armistice Day itself, Saturday 11th November, there will be a short service in the Garden of Remembrance at St John’s Church on Bonnygate. The service begins at 10.45am and all are invited to attend.” Wooden crosses are available for purchase at the church gates.
Bill adds: “We invite everyone from the local community to join us from 1030 at Cupar’s War Memorial for the Remembrance Service to be held on Sunday 12th November.”
There will be a parade from the Fluthers Car Park to the War Memorial. Uniformed bodies and others wishing to march should assemble in the Fluthers Car Park by 10.15am on the day: others should assemble near the War Memorial by 1030am.
Those who wish to lay a wreath should come to the front right of the War Memorial, to be called forward in turn to lay their wreaths. All attending are asked to move from the street promptly after the service, so that the Police can re-open it to traffic.
