CuparNow Open Day

We are very proud to help support so many businesses and community groups across Cupar and our wider catchment – and that our work has helped to build a combined digital audience that now tops 80,000. As promised in our recently published Annual Report, we are holding an Open Day where all are welcome to pop-in and discover what we have been delivering and what is planned for the year ahead …

On Wednesday 1st March, we will be at Castlehill Community Centre from 1300-1900 – times that we hope will enable anyone who is interested to come along. No booking is required – just pop in and we’ll be there.

On the day, there will be a mix of folk present – including those delivering the day-to-day work on the channels we manage as well as members of our Steering Group who will be giving up their time to help cover the event.

The work delivered by CuparNow is in line with the original plans that were borne out of the Scottish Government’s Digital Towns Programme 2017-18. That project showed that the town – via Cupar’s Business Association ‘ wanted a ‘digital hub’ that would be able to communicate all that the town was offering in support of multiple audiences.

We created a ‘hub & spoke‘ approach that has governed our delivery from Day 1 …

By business, for business is the project’s mantra – and it is the businesses’ contributions that enable support to be delivered to the spokes:

  • Levy Payers – those businesses and organisations who pay an annual levy, the vast majority contributing £100 per annum … a sum fixed by our Steering Group made up of business owners and managers in the town, together with elected and officer representatives from Fife Council. Our support helps to promote businesses as well as business sectors, sharing content 365 days of the week through the channels we manage.
  • Community Partners – this equates to 90 associations, clubs, groups, societies and more who provide so much community support throughout the year. We created a Directory to help all find more information and work with a whole range to help share updates on their events and more.
  • Culture & Tourism – from businesses and organisations involved in meeting the needs of visitors to the town to those in the town’s catchment who are providing reasons to visit the area. Our work has included the design, print and distribution of a free Town Guide & Map (that includes access to a digital version of the town’s Heritage Trail) as well as putting Cupar on TV in 2022 with a campaign that was seen by more than a third of a million people. We also provide free public realm Wi-Fi in the town centre that has been used by many thousands when visiting Cupar. The map below shows the home locations of those who used the free service in 2022 …

  • Education & Training – we work closely with the providers of all education and training services across Cupar and District in the public, private and third sectors. We are delighted that Bell Baxter High School is represented on our Steering Group.
  • Environment – the groups who work hard to improve the town’s environment as well as sharing information from a multitude of organisations delivering environmental benefits to our area.
  • Healthcare – supporting the local Healthcare Partnership as well as promoting those delivering health and wellbeing services in the town across the public, private and third sectors.
  • Social Care – helping to make more people aware of the social care provision that is available in and around Cupar.
  • Economic Development – the reason we created CuparNow was to demonstrate how managed, integrated digital communication delivered to support multiple audiences would combine to drive economic development and help to make Cupar a sustainable 21st century market town.

Our audiences …

CuparNow would be nothing without the wonderfully engaged audiences that we have built across the platforms we manage. It is our audiences’ advocacy – sharing the content we create, share and publish with their friends, family and colleagues at home and abroad – that has helped to create the largest and fastest growing digital audience (by timeframe and scale) of any town or city in Scotland. Thank you!

Our Databases

  • Business-to-Business – we have more than 230 businesses in Cupar subscribed to receive regular updates.
  • Business-to-Consumer – we manage a database of more than 1,900 subscribers who receive regular updates sharing news on businesses, promotional offers, events and more.
  • Community – working with community partners, we manage a database of more than 240 contacts who are involved in community associations, groups, organisations and societies. This list receive updates from time to time, especially on the work of the collaborative forum that works so hard to deliver all manner of initiatives through the year.
